Auditioned Polk, Klipsch, and Def Tech in-ceiling speakers before I bought this pair and had them installed with my new theater. Glad I did because they sound just as good or better for less than half the price. Build quality was better too. Bought a second pair of 6 1/2's for the kitchen.

JA Audio products and specifically EX-C80 8" 3-way ceiling speakers are an amazing deal for the price. Almost passed them up due to them being cheap in cost over Bose/Klipsch/Polk etc -- and despite having a ceiling speaker CON the sound and quality are superb. The only risk is the little company they are -- compared to other big mfg. but with such a low investment ([$]) for 8 speakers! -- 2 years later -- still going well. The 3-way speakers provide such a balance of sound not available on the 2-way competition -- that it is SO worth it. They were a joy to install and the ears, wiring, packaging was 1st class -- down to the grill covers and a special pin tool they provided to remove them easily. Online videos are helpful but assuming you cut the whole exact -- and you have clearance for the ears -- add the insulation behind and triple check your connections! (I used banana plugs to make triple sure they don't come undone) -- they worked first time up.
