5.1 system consisting of Onkyo TX-SR309, Boston Acoustics CSSUB10B Classic Series Powered Subwoofer, and these speakers mounted in the ceiling. Set crossover in receiver and sub to between 50-60Hz and I'm rockin'. The receiver isn't super high output, but plenty enough for a sizeable living room. I also installed these speakers in a finished basement entertainment room. Honestly I didn't know what to expect with these, since they seemed like a "budget" solution, but I'm REALLY happy. My wife is freaking out over the sound (in a good way), which is certainly a plus. Music completely surrounds you (I prefer Dolby PL II setting on my receiver for music). I listened to the opening sequence of "Quantum of Solace" with my receiver turned about halfway up and my living room sounded like it was going to explode and the shattering glass was crystal clear. Very happy with the purchase! The only MINOR complaint may be that the the high frequencies are slightly pronounced and the speakers can be mid-rangey when watching spoken material (like the news for instance). This is me searching for a con though. I haven't played with pointing the tweeters, which are still pointing straight down, so maybe that would change things up a bit. Really, I have no complaints. Dog-ear clamps make install a breeze too, which is worth mentioning. Also, the bezels (or flanges or whatever) around the speakers are very forgiving and will hide a moderately poor drywall cutting job. For the price, these speakers are a fantastic deal.

house was prewired, and they were very easy to install, provided the wiring is not near a beam in the ceiling. As soon as the opening is made, fill with insulation to stop insulation from falling out. Otherwise very easy to install and great sound.
